The Canadian investment is testament both to scale of the opportunity in the local industrial sector and a major endorsement for the Gateway platform set up two years ago by co-founders Stuart Dawes and Peter McDonald.
“The industrial and logistics sector continues to be highly attractive with strong fundamentals, and the changing macro environment positions us well to take advantage of opportunities as they arise. We are looking forward to working with Gateway Capital to build up a portfolio of scale,” said Karl Kreppner, Cadillac Fairview’s regional head for APAC.
The platform was set up two years ago by Mr Dawes, as its chief executive, and Mr McDonald as its chief investment officer, following their previous leadership togetherBoth held roles at ESR before setting up Gateway Capital. “The trend of e-commerce continues to represent a large proportion of the occupier demand, evidenced by these users accounting for 46 per cent of all floor space leased in Australia in 2022,” he said.
