Canada flaunted its depth as it dominated the Luka Doncic-led Slovenia, 100-89 in their quarterfinal duel en route to booking a semifinal seat in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Wednesday, September 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett formed a deadly 1-2 scoring punch as the dynamic duo helped Canada control the match for good behind its 30-21 third-quarter advantage.

The Canadians, who led by as many as 17 points, proved too much to handle for the Slovenians, who lost Doncic midway in the fourth period after picking up his second technical foul. The loss spoiled Doncic's FIBA World Cup debut in Manila. Slovenia suffered a 100-71 defeat at the hands of Germany at the close of the second round action last Sunday in Okinawa, Japan.

The ploy worked well for Canada as Doncic shot just 4-of-14 from the two-point arc, though the young NBA star still went on to lead Slovenia in scoring with 26 points.Brooks, for his part, delivered 14 points, while knocking down three triples in over 28 minutes of action. The win set Canada up for a knockout semifinal match against tournament favorite Serbia on Friday.
