Slovenia played the final three minutes without go-to-guy Luka Doncic and Canada cruised to a 100-89 win in the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Cup at the Mall of Asia on Wednesday night.
Serbia booked the first of four semifinal slots after routing Lithuania, 87-68, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night. Doncic tried very hard to assert his leadership role at Slovenia, overcoming Dillon Brooks’ tight defense, but still came up with 17 points in the first half to keep at pace with Canada until the break which ended at 50-all.
