A California man has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly hitting and killing a girl who was swimming in the Colorado River.

A California man has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly hitting and killing a girl who was swimming in theA seven-year-old girl was swimming near the shore on Memorial Day weekend 2022 at Buckskin Mountain State Park, a recreational area that straddles the California-Arizona border. Prosecutors from the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office say Arthur V. Garcia, 38, of Indio hit the girl while boating. She was taken to a hospital where she died.
A year later, prosecutors filed multiple felony charges against Garcia, including willfully causing a child to suffer, reckless or negligent operation and manslaughter with a vessel. Court records show he also faces an additional misdemeanor charge of reckless or negligent operation.
