SAN ANTONIO - A suspect allegedly involved in several burglaries targeting new build homes has been arrested. On wednesday,
A suspect accused of stealing appliances from vacant, newly constructed homes across San Antonio has been arrested. On Wednesday, police arrested Israel Anthony Padilla, 54, on a warrant in connection to a burglary of a home in a new development area.
Police say that on Nov. 3, Padilla was caught on security camera footage at the newly constructed home, allegedly disconnecting kitchen appliances and loading them into his truck.Padilla has also been named as a suspect in two other burglaries of other vacant homes in different areas across San Antonio, but police say he may have been involved in more.
Although police say Padilla was working alone in this one instance, they are still searching for additional suspects, or if he could be a part of a much larger theft ring. Law enforcement is encouraging home buyers to keep a watchful eye and to do what they can to deter theft, but also to provide any information or video footage to police.
San Antonio Police have been cracking down on burglaries and robberies during the holiday season, and the Property Crimes Task Force has been focusing on preventing thefts of construction materials, tools, and appliances, at newly built homes across the city.
