The school remains on lockdown and students are being reunited with their parents at a nearby middle school as law enforcement continues to investigate the incident.
Authorities say a female teacher was taken to a hospital after being shot by a student at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde, The student, who was identified by the Comal County Sheriff's Office as a 15-year-old male, died at the scene.
"We know this is incredibly difficult to hear. What we can tell you is this situation is contained, and there is no ongoing threat to students," the CCSO wrote in a post on Facebook.CCSO said the school was on lockdown at around 9:25 a.m. local time, with students being taken to nearby Bulverde Middle School for reunification with their parents. The sheriff's office initially said one person had been shot and it was unclear if a suspect had been taken into custody, with an update around 45 minutes later stating it was not an active shooter situation. At around 11:40 a.m. local time, officials confirmed the 15-year-old student had died. The student’s cause of death is unknown at this time. The teacher had been taken to a San Antonio hospital, but CCSO had no other updates on her condition."We understand how scary this has been for families and our entire community," CCSO said in a statement shared to Facebook."Thank you for your patience, and for helping us share accurate information." The school said on its Facebook page that parents needed to bring I.D. in order to pick up their children, adding that reunification may take some time.
