Firefighters responded to the Lidia fire around 1 p.m. to the 5700 block of Soledad Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. By 4:11 p.m., the fire had grown to 80 acres and was 30% contained, meaning that a control line has been established to stop part of the fire from spreading. Officials earlier estimated the fire was burning between five and seven acres around 2 p.m. It then grew to 50 acres by 2:30 p.m.
A Sig Alert was issued by the California Highway Patrol, closing Soledad Canyon Road between Agua Dulce Canyon Road and Crown Valley Road.Los Angeles County reported evacuations were ordered for anyone north of Mount Gleason Road; south of Soledad Canyon Road, Calmgarden Road and White Spur Lane; east of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clara Truck Trail and Indian Canyon Road and west of Aliso Canyon Road and Mount Gleason Road.
Fire officials called Metrolink to inform the agency not to run trains on railroads in the area as crews work to extinguish the blaze, KCAL reported.
