Brown, but don't frown: Johannesburg tap water safe to drink, says official
MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Jack Sekwaila has assured Johannesburg residents that tap water is completely safe to drink.
This was after residents in Soweto complained that they had brown-coloured water coming out of their taps. Sekwaila told media on Wednesday that some of the water was brown because of recent repairs to the pipes. He said when the water came back on, it dislodged rust and soil in the pipes.
