Construction for the Blue Abyss project, which recently received $1.8 million in funding from the state, is slated to begin this year.
BROOK PARK, Ohio - Blue Abyss, a UK-based company, has received funding from the state of Ohio for the construction of a $250 million facility that will include a hotel and a cutting-edge extreme-environment research, development, and training center in Brook Park.
The property is located adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport along Aerospace Parkway. It’s also near NASA’s Glenn Research Center, the Ohio Aerospace Institute and Cleveland’s International Exposition Center.Paul Marnecheck, the city’s Commissioner of Economic Development, told the News Sun that the company purchased the Brook Park property from the city for $783,750.“They chose us,” he said. “They could have gone anywhere in the world and they came here. This is exciting.
“The company envisions a future where humanity safely and routinely travels to, lives and works in the most extreme environments,” Vickers wrote in a statement. “It aims to deliver the world’s foremost extreme environment research, development, testing, and training facilities to enable the research and development of space, aerospace, medical and marine technologies and techniques.
