Brook Park City Council approved a $1.8 million project to repair the roof and walls of the long-closed natatorium, marking a significant first step toward potentially reopening or repurposing the facility.

BROOK PARK, Ohio -- City Council members recently approved a roughly $1.8 million repair project for the city’s natatorium, which has been shuttered for nearly a decade.

“What this project is all about is just getting the roof done and making sure that the walls are tuck-pointed and secure,” Orcutt explained.Despite city officials’The mayor described the scope of the project as a “total tear off” and replacement of the natatorium’s roof, along with repairs to the facility’s exterior walls.

While there is no set time frame for the start or completion of the roof and walls project, Orcutt estimated that work could begin at the end of summer or early fall. “Then, from there, we can have the discussions and ideas of what we can be able to change that to -- or open the pool.”
