On Thursday, some military commands in San Antonio were anticipating Griner’s arrival at Brooke Army Medical Center’s reintegration facility. “The U.S government is focused on ensuring Brittney Griner’s and her family’s well-being is prioritized and that all assistance available be offered in an appropriate manner,” a State Department spokesman said. “Due to privacy reasons, and out of respect for the family, we do not have anything additional to provide.”It is unclear when the two-time Olympic gold medalist would arrive in the Alamo City after her monthslong imprisonment on drug charges.
"She’s safe, she’s on a plane, she’s on her way home," President Joe Biden said from the White House, where he was accompanied by Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, and administration officials.In 2014, the reintegration center treated former POW Bowe Bergdahl, an Army sergeant held captive by the Taliban for 1,797 days.
