Brittney Griner's wife Cherelle is 'overwhelmed with emotions' over the WNBA star's release, but said that she and BG will remain committed to getting other detained Americans, like Paul Whelan, back home to their families, too.
That was Brittney Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, vowing that she and her newly freed spouse, “BG,” will remain committed to getting other American detainees home — including Paul Whelan, a Michigan corporate security executive who has been jailed in Russia since December 2018 on espionage charges that his family and the U.S. government have said are baseless.

Fox News reporter Nick Kalman tweeted out a statement from the Whelans that read: “There is no greater success than for a wrongful detainee to be freed & for them to go home. The Biden Admin made the right decision to bring Ms. Griner home, & to make the deal that was possible, rather than waiting for one that wasn’t going to.
