Adong Mukuoi returned to Saskatoon to play for the Saskatchewan Rattlers years after starring in the BRIT high school basketball tournament.
“Usually at BRIT, it’s snow storms or a blizzard or something like that. Now, being able to see the other side of it, now that it’s warmer outside … I got to do different things.”
“I had never played organized basketball. I knew a little bit . Every once in a while, I’d watch basketball . I remember, as a kid, when Kobe was in the finals with the Lakers, I watched the Lakers because my older sister was rooting for the Celtics and I was, like, ‘Nah, the Lakers are going to win, the Lakers are going to win.’ She used to watch the games and I used to just root for the Lakers. It was just a little sibling rivalry thing there.
As a rookie coming straight out of college, Mukuoi says he appreciates the opportunity provided by the CEBL. “I started to figure it out a little more closer to the midway, to the end of the season, where I could get into more of a rhythm and kind of establish my role on the team and what I can do for the team and what I need to do to help us win games, so that’s a good thing,” he said.
