LEGO 2K Drive's Creative Director Brian Silva spoke with Screen Rant about the creative process behind the upcoming open-world driving adventure from lego and 2K
LEGO 2K Drive is the first installment in a multi-title partnership between LEGO and 2K that combines racing, customization, and open-world mechanics to create a unique driving adventure experience. Although LEGO 2K Drive's main story centers around the player reaching their peak racing performance and competing in the Sky Cup Grand Prix - Bricklandia's premier competition - it's much more than a typical kart racer.
In terms of narratively developing the game's main story, with a lot of LEGO games you have some sort of baseline IP to work with, but you guys were starting entirely from scratch. What was that creative process like developing the main campaign and what the goals would be? Were there any baseline parameters or rules given when they were coming up with all of these random map events? Or was it just kind of freedom to go wild?
You mentioned the seamless transition of when it goes from car to boat to off-road vehicle, which is really cool. Brian Silva: What I'll tell you is, yes, we have an amazing cast of voice actors. I love working with them. I've got to be in every single recording session. That was so super fun. And I can't believe I got to do that. So yes, the short answer is yes. You have heard these voices before, probably frequently, not only in video games, but other media. Stay tuned for the credits.
