An eight-year-old boy, identified as Luke Linnett, tragically died after a statue fell on him at the Arizona Biltmore . According to an incident report released by the Phoenix Police Department, Luke was playing near two statues called 'Sprites' on November 27 when he grabbed onto one and placed his leg on its pedestal. As he lifted his other leg, the statue rocked and fell, striking him on the head. Several people came to his aid, but Luke suffered a fatal brain injury.
He underwent surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital but died on November 28. The police report states that the family was visiting from Iowa and had checked into the resort on November 26. Luke's mother, Lauren Linnett, was awaiting a grocery delivery when the incident occurred. The police report also notes that the resort initially refused to provide surveillance footage without a court order, but investigators were able to review it
