A 6-year-old boy was killed this weekend on Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner identified the boy as King Holguin. Capt. Justin Bradford said the boy ran into the No. 3 lane of I-280 south of Leland Avenue on Friday just before 11 p.m.That's when he was struck by a 36-year-old driver of a 2024 Nissan Altima, the CHP said.The boy sustained major injuries and died at the hospital, the CHP said.It's not known why the boy ran onto the highway, what he was doing there or if he had been alone at the time.
The CHP said that the crash is under investigation, but added that the driver stayed on scene and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved. On King's behalf, a woman named Lydia Holguin set up a GoFundMe for Victoria Olivas, who would be the beneficiary. KTVU was not immediately able to speak to Holguin or the family.But according to the fundraiser, the family acknowledged that "King’s time here was cut short, very unexpectedly.
