Steve Borthwick has revealed Eddie Jones sent him a text when he got the England job
England head coach Steve Borthwick says he is delighted for predecessor Eddie Jones, who has been reappointed as Australia boss.
But Borthwick has insisted his mind is not on the competition, which will be hosted by France this year. “The day I was announced as England head coach, he sent me a message wishing me the very best. This morning, I sent him a message wishing him the very best.” “Kevin [Sinfield, defence coach] and I, all the players, all the coaches, we are focussed on that game.”The new England boss has made some big calls, including dropping Billy Vunipola and recalling Dan Cole, who has not played for England since the 2019 World Cup final.Meanwhile, Jones goes back to Australia to finish what he started after his first stint as coach ended disastrously but has been tasked with rejuvenating a once great rugby nation that has lost its way in recent years.
