Emergency services were called to the scene on Mountjoy Terrace in Musselburgh shortly after 6am on Monday.
A man’s body has been discovered in an East Lothian street, with police now launching an investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.15 am on Monday, 17 July 2023, a man was found deceased on Mountjoy Terrace, Musselburgh. Meanwhile, volunteers at the RNLI Kinghorn Lifeboat Station were alerted to a person in the water along the coast in Port Seton.
