A woman's body was found in the basement of a Canal Winchester residence during the arrest of Darrell Carter Jr., a 33-year-old Canton man wanted for failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio (WOIO) - The United States Marshals Service discovered the body of a woman inside a residence while executing an arrest warrant for a Canton man on Thursday. Members of the U.S. Marshals, Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), apprehended 33-year-old Darrell Carter Jr. in Canal Winchester , OH. Carter was wanted for failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
The task force received intelligence suggesting Carter had fled Stark County and was living in the Columbus, Ohio area. SOFAST members located and arrested Carter at a residence on Levi Cramer Road in Canal Winchester. During the arrest process, task force members also found the body of a woman in the basement of the residence. The identity of the woman remains unknown at this time, and police are currently investigating the scene and working to identify her.
