Day 4 in the manslaughter trial of two former Williamson County deputies focused on body camera footage taken the night of the in-custody death of Javier Ambler
. . The footage shows then-deputies Zachary Camden and James Johnson describing what happened after a high-speed chase that ended with Ambler crashing his SUV.
“He was pulling away from the APD officer when he had his hand. I was on his neck, and I was trying to get his right hand and he kept trying to pull it. He was a big dude and I could not get his hand. I did not know what was underneath him. So, I deployed my taser,” said former deputy Zachary Camden.
“We conduct traffic stops the way we conduct traffic stops. Just because a camera is in the car does not change that,” said Asst. Chief David.
