The Crimson Tide first-year wideout made a highlight play on Saturday.
High school football fans in Central Pennsylvania are no strangers to seeing Rico Scott make explosive plays down the field as a wideout. But as a freshman for a stacked Alabama Crimson Tide squad, the former Bishop McDevitt star hasn’t had a ton of chances to make an impact.
He earned an opportunity late on Saturday, and made the most of it, as in the fourth quarter of Alabama’s 52-7 win over Mercer, Scott snagged his first career college touchdown, hauling in a 32-yard pass in the back corner of the end zone from backup quarterback Austin Mack. This is Scott’s first college season after a standout career at Bishop McDevitt, where his big-play ability helped lead the Crusaders to a state title in 2022, and earned him a 4-star recruiting rating in the Class of 2024.
