Sens. Gary Peters, D-Mich., Rand Paul, R-Ky., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn,, and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee made information requests to several government agencies. Among those receiving requests were the Secret Service, FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
The senators requested over 30 items from the Secret Service relating to intelligence, resources and communications materials. The agency has until August 7 to meet their request.Lawmakers continue to press agencies as officials from both parties demand answers to the attack. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who drilled former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle for not being forthcoming with members of Congress,Rep. James Comer, R-Ky.
