Previous research has examined the association between use of individual biologics and reduction in acute exacerbations of COPD, but real-world data on the use of biologics for COPD and asthma-COPD overlap syndrome are lacking, Dachert and colleagues wrote in their abstract. "In our real-world cohort, we saw both a reduction in exacerbations and hospitalizations in the year following initiation of biologic therapy," Dachert said. A reduction in hospitalizations, in particular, had not previously been shown in this population, he noted.
