next year, the league announced Thursday as it revealed teams’ opponents for the 2024 and ’25 seasons.
The dates of the games will be announced in the fall. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told The Dispatch the Michigan game will remain the regular-season finale. Smith said Ohio State chose not to request for Penn State to be a second protected opponent. He said that while the Nittany Lions have proven to be a competitive rival, it wasn't the deep-rooted one like Michigan or ones Iowa has with Wisconsin or Minnesota as the Hawkeyes' protected opponents.
Smith said he did not make a request to the league that Ohio State play USC in the Trojans' inaugural season in the league. Michigan plays at USC and home against UCLA in 2024, but plays neither team in 2025.The Buckeyes’ streak of games against Michigan State and Indiana also will end. OSU won’t play the Hoosiers in 2024, and the Spartans are not on the schedule in 2025.
