The Big Ten announces Ohio State's home and away matchups in conference play for the 2023-24 season, when the Buckeyes will take on Michigan both in Columbus and Ann Arbor.
The Big Ten announced some key details regarding conference matchups for its 2023-24 men's basketball season Tuesday.
While no dates or tip-off times were unveiled, Ohio State now knows its single- and double-play opponents for the upcoming campaign and whether or not it will take on Big Ten opponents at home or on the road. The Buckeyes are slated to face Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin two times each next season, with one home matchup and a road contest against all seven adversaries. Ohio State went a combined 1-7 against those teams during the 2022-23 regular season, and 2-7 if you include its Big Ten Tournament win over the Badgers.
As for its home-only opponents, Ohio State will host Illinois, Maryland and Purdue at the Schottenstein Center in 2023-24. The Buckeyes scored home victories over both the Fighting Illini and Terrapins in the final week of this past regular season and only dropped to the Boilermakers by two points in Columbus in January.
Ohio State will face Iowa, Michigan State and Northwestern one time apiece next season, with all three contests taking place in enemy territory. The Buckeyes lost on the road to both the Hawkeyes and Spartans in 2022-23 but blew out the Wildcats in what turned out to be their only regular-season road win of the season in Big Ten play.
