Bell Textron is constructing a $632 million factory in Fort Worth, Texas, to manufacture components for its new V-280 Valor attack helicopter, intended to succeed the UH-60 Black Hawk as the U.S. Army's long-range assault aircraft. The investment is projected to create up to 520 jobs and leverages the state's Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation (JETI) program for tax abatements and workforce development.

Advertisement Located at 15100 N. Beach St., the $632 million factory will manufacture parts of the defense contractor ’s new attack helicopter, the V-280 Valor . That is slated to replace the iconic UH-60 Black Hawk as the U.S. Army’s long-range assault aircraft.

The investment will create up to 520 jobs in the area, pursuant to the Lone Star State’s Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation (“Bell is making a Texas-sized investment in the future of Fort Worth and in the future of our great state,” Abbott said in a release.. Projects part of the JETI program receive a 10-year 50% or 75% real property value abatement for maintenance and operations school taxes, depending on location, in exchange for meeting certain jobs and investment requirements. Upon approval, companies enter into an agreement with the governor’s office and the applicable school district; in Bell’s case, it’s Northwest Independent School District. “This program is part of our broader strategy to build a better-prepared and a better-paid workforce by encouraging companies like Bell to expand manufacturing in Texas,” Abbott said on Tuesday. “There is no better place to build the future of America than in the great state of Texas.”Chapter 313, which ended in 2022, offered a 100% abatement on school taxes and allowed companies to make direct payments to schools.
