Early box office tracking for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton predicts a strong opening weekend.
The original Beetlejuice, in comparison, made around $8 million during its opening weekend and then went on to gross around $74 million in North America. With a budget of only $15 million, it became the tenth highest-grossing movie of 1988.
“Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.
Along with Keaton, Ryder, and O’Hara, the movie stars Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Burn Gorman, Arthur Conti, and more. Burton returns to direct Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, while the screenplay was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on a story by Gough, Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith. Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper, and Burton serve as producers, while Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Gough, Millar, Brad Pitt, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, Anthony Tittanegro, Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are executive producing.
