According to the BBB, scammers take advantage of fans by offering fake tickets for sale through social media platforms and other online channels.

) - Football fans beware! If you’re looking to cheer on the Dawgs or Tide Saturday in Tuscaloosa , the Better Business Bureau has alerted fans about fraudulent ticket sales, especially online. According to the BBB , scammers take advantage of fans by offering fake tickets for sale through social media platforms and other online channels.

Carl Bates, President of the BBB serving Central and South Alabama, says that once these scammers receive payment through apps like Cash App, Venmo, or other digital platforms, they often vanish, leaving buyers with no tickets and it’s unlikely they get their money back. He advises fans to stick with trusted sources when purchasing tickets. “The legitimate ticket brokers, both here locally and the national ones like SeatGeek, StubHub—they’re all fine,” says Bates. “But if someone doesn’t take a credit card, be cautious. Ask a lot of questions, and understand the return policy if the tickets aren’t what you expected.”-Buy from official sources: Stick to the team or venue’s official website, or reputable third-party sellers with a solid reputation.-Verify tickets before the game: Fans can verify tickets at the University Ticket Office during business hours or at Gates 4 and 44 on game day. -Avoid social media transactions: Don’t buy tickets from social media platforms or sellers who request payment through apps like Venmo or CashApp. These platforms are often used by scammers who vanish after receiving payment. -Be cautious of too-good-to-be-true deals: Scammers often lure buyers with low prices, especially for high-demand games like Alabama vs. Georgia. To avoid falling victim to these scams, Bates recommends using a credit card when buying tickets, as it offers more protection than debit cards or cash apps. He also encourages fans to verify their tickets through the venue’s box office before game day to ensure they are legitimate.Emergency crews from Escambia County, Florida head east to assist with storm recoverySearch and rescue teams stationed in Pensacola prepare to head east after Helene
