Baytown is currently under a boil water notice for the second consecutive day due to a water main break on Bayway Drive that has resulted in low water pressure throughout parts of the city. Officials from ABC13 confirmed with city representatives that the boil water notice will remain in effect until further notice. A city-wide advisory will be issued once the notice is lifted.
The boil water notice affects residents and businesses along Bayway Drive, spanning from Spur 330 to Bayvilla Drive, and along Baker Road, extending from Bayway Drive to Bush Road. Individuals within these impacted areas are advised to boil their water before consuming it for any purpose, including drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing hands or face. Boiling water for two minutes after bringing it to a vigorous rolling boil effectively eliminates harmful bacteria and other microbes. As a precautionary measure, bottled water can also be used.City crews are diligently working to repair the water line in the Lakewood and Baker Road areas. While service was temporarily restored on Wednesday morning, officials stated that when water pressure failed to return to the necessary levels, the boil water notice was implemented as a preventative measure. The City of Baytown initially alerted its customers to the issue on Tuesday evening, informing them that crews were engaged in repairs on the main waterline supplying the eastern and central portions of Baytown, necessitating a temporary shutdown of water service. The city also mentioned that recent rainfall has impeded the repair process. By 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the issue persisted, affecting two schools within Goose Creek CISD, including Travis Elementary and Baytown Junior School, both of which experienced a lack of running water. Later that afternoon at 2 p.m., the boil water notice was put into effect and remains in place as of Thursday
