The city of Lewisville lifted a boil water notice on Monday after water quality tests showed that the water met or exceeded state and federal safety standards. The notice was issued on Sunday morning following the failure of a 30-inch water main, which affected approximately 80% of the city's water customers and led to the cancellation of classes at Lewisville ISD. Water service was restored, but the system needed to be flushed and tested before the notice could be lifted.

City officials issued a boil water notice early Sunday morning after a 30-inch water main failed, causing a drop in water pressure for thousands of customers in the central portion of Lewisville.The pipe that failed is one of the largest pipes in the city’s water distribution system, officials wrote in the post. About 80% of Lewisville water customers were affected. The failure also prompted Lewisville ISD to cancel Monday classes.

Though the water is safe again for consumption, city officials are urging affected customers to flush their home or business water systems.
