One of several drug arrests included a stop while driving in his distinctive purple Cadillac Escalade with the license plate “MRPIKE,” prosecutors said.

OAKLAND — A Bay Point man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after prosecutors say he continued toand was sentenced on March 3 by U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar. Federal prosecutors charged Pike in 2023 and asked for a prison sentence nearly twice what Pike received, court records show.

Pike’s lawyers and family members pleaded for leniency, citing Pike’s significant health problems and important role in his family. His lawyers described him as a “low level” dealer whose problems were caused by drug addiction and a traumatic childhood where he witnessed two murders in Pittsburg. “This is the case of a serious addict who has lived a life defined by drugs and who has never received proper drug treatment. A seven-year sentence therefore properly accounts for the conduct and circumstances in this case,” a defense sentencing memo says. Pike is in Santa Rita Jail, pending transfer to the Bureau of Prisons system. He was originally investigated in 2022, as part of a large-scale probe into East Contra Costa drug dealers that started with the seizure of a cellphone owned by a drug dealer named Robert Brown, who was sentenced to seven years in 2024, court records show. In recent years Pike has been arrested with distribution-level quantities of drugs several times, including an October 2022 traffic stop where Contra Costa deputies seized 3.5 pounds of methamphetamine and a 2023 incident where eight grams of fentanyl was found in his distinctive purple Cadillac Escalade with the license plate “MRPIKE.” He was also caught with a pound of methamphetamine in December 2022, and a quarter-pound, along with an ounce of fentanyl, when being arrested on the federal warrant in November 2023, prosecutors said. After his arrest, Pike collapsed in court from a seizure and was diagnosed with cancer, court records show. One of his children wrote in court records that it was traumatic to learn of his cancer diagnosis through the news media. Another wrote in a note to Tigar, “I am pleading with you — from the deepest, most desperate part of my soul — to grant him the chance to receive the medical care that could save his life.” Pike was released from jail after his indictment, but then re-arrested in July 2025, when deputies searched his residence and found three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine in the fridge, court records show. Again, he had a seizure while being arrested and was hospitalized, and again released from jail. About six weeks after that, a woman was pulled over in his purple Cadillac with about 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, court records show.'Nobody told us it was dangerous': Quartz countertop boom linked to incurable lung disease among Bay Area workersPopular Bay Area oceanfront park to triple in size under proposed dealAsking Eric: How blunt should I be about my friend's teenage son?
