After Pullen retired from Clear Creek ISD in 1995, he taught at the university level. He was an associate professor of music at Abilene Christian University for six years before becoming a professor of music and director of choirs at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., where he retired in 2011. “I know it will be emotional,” said Pullen, who said he was 12 or 13 years old when he discovered classical music while living in Channelview.
