Batman can more or less be whatever you make of it. His Gotham City is absolutely iconic - a candy confection riddled with serial killers.The superhero movie that proved the genre can thrive, Burton's Batman is a classic.
Alongside Donner's Superman, it introduced the darker Batman to a world too used to his camper 60's incarnation, oozing with style, charm, and tension, yet a morbid humor. From the slow introduction through the eyes of Bassinger's Vicki Vale to Gotham, to the charm of Keaton's Bruce and his cool, measured Batman, to Nicholson's lively Joker, Batman holds up even amongst the best blockbusters of today.Doesn't get more iconic than Keaton as Batman. Love that Tim Burton restrained himself a bit more here compared to Returns. This movie is just classic and showed Batman like he had never been seen before in live action.
