) - A Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was under an internal affairs investigation has resigned, Sheriff Anthony Lowery told FOX10 News. The deputy stepped down Thursday. Lowery said the deputy had been on administrative leave with pay since the investigation began.
Lowery did not identify the deputy by name. It is not yet clear whether the internal affairs investigation will continue following the resignation. The internal affairs probe is connected to an undercover anti-trafficking sting conducted by Spanish Fort police last Friday. Lowery said Spanish Fort police contacted his office with concerns that one of his deputies may have been involved.with law enforcement. Seven suspects were taken into custody after police said they showed up at a hotel expecting to pay for sex.
