The Baldwin County Commission recently recognized the winners of the America 250 Poster Contest, a countywide initiative that invited fifth-grade students to reflect on the theme “What Freedom Means to Me.
” Students from across Baldwin County submitted creative and thoughtful artwork showcasing their understanding of freedom, patriotism, and the values that define our nation. Winners were selected from each County Commission District, highlighting the talent and perspective of young residents throughout the county. As part of the recognition, each County Commissioner visited schools within their district to personally congratulate the student winners and celebrate their achievements alongside teachers, administrators, and families. “This contest gave students an opportunity to express what freedom means through their own eyes,” said Commissioner Billie Jo Underwood. “We are proud to recognize these students and celebrate the creativity and thoughtfulness they brought to this important milestone in our nation’s history.” The contest was part of Baldwin County’s participation in the nationwide America 250 initiative, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
