Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Baldur's Gate 3's omnipresent narrator may have found their way into the hearts of the game's community, but Larian Studios briefly flirted with bringing in an exceptionally experienced Dungeon Master to dictate the experience.
Speaking at the Game Developers Conference, per VG247, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke revealed that the creative team toyed with the idea of enlisting the vocal talents of Matt Mercer, an acclaimed voice actor and the Dungeon Master of the ever-popular D&D series Critical Role. The developer noted that in the early stages of the project, they considered offering players multiple DMs, all of whom would be voiced by different people, one of whom would be Mercer.

Here’s what to expect regarding DLC, expansions, and sequels. Matt Mercer Still Appears In Baldur's Gate 3 While he may not serve as Baldur's Gate 3's narrator, Mercer does still play a significant role in the game's story: The Human Ranger Minsc.
For his part, Mercer hasn't shied away from actively showing his love for Baldur's Gate 3. Shortly after the game launched out of early access, the DM stunned the community by revealing a trick that skips a major section of the game with ease. The strategy involved stacking 45 crates on top of one another and using an Arrow of Transposition to teleport into an area that should not have been accessible.

Special mention was made for actor Neil Newbon, the voice of the roguish vampire Astarion who proved to be a favorite amongst fans. Newbon's portrayal was so acclaimed that it even netted him the award for Best Performance at The Game Awards.
