With seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, quarterback Baker Mayfield opted against victory formation, choosing instead to give his favorite target, Mike Evans , an opportunity to make NFL history.
Evans entered the game needing five catches and 85 yards to earn a $3 million bonus, which would also make him the first player to start their career with 11,000-yard seasons. Mayfield threw a quick pass to Evans, who gained nine yards, securing his 89th yard for the game and accomplishing both feats. The crowd erupted as Evans celebrated with rookie teammate Jalen McMillan, and the rest of his Buccaneers teammates congratulated him as he left the field.
