South Africa's Bafana Bafana will play very big matches next month. SAFA have meanwhile announced details on the Zimbabwe match.
According to Safa, the match against the Warriors will be on Tuesday, 11 June at 18h00. SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao explained why the game will not play at the usual time of 19:30.
“We wanted the game to kick off at 19h30 because this is the traditional start of late matches in South Africa, and given that it is a midweek match, it accommodates those who are coming from work and have other engagements,” Monyepao “But ultimately we were given a 6pm kick off and the decision is final. So, the match between Bafana Bafana and Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 will kick off at 18h00.
“We call upon all fans to fill up the stadium and support the boys, make sure that they feel the love when they play their first match at home since the Bronze medal achievement at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire a few weeks ago,” the Bafana Bafana boss concluded. So who’s all in Bafana Bafana’s group? The list includes Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Benin and Rwanda.
“This collaboration blends the passion of South African football with the tradition of Shisanyama. SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership: ‘“Uniting with Freddy Hirsch allows us to bring together two of South Africa’s greatest loves— football and Shisanyama. This collaboration will enhance match-day experiences in stadia as well as at home or fan’s favourite shisanyama spots and enrich our ties and cultural heritage over the next three years.
