The Ayrshire Agricultural Association, organisers of the Ayr Show, are bracing themselves for a crowd of thousands to descend on Ayr Racecourse to witness the 179th running of the annual showpiece.

Organisers of tomorrow’s Ayr Show have insisted that the weekend event WILL go on- despite the shock news of an outbreak of Mad Cow Disease in the region.

The confirmation triggered a movement restriction of animals at “impacted premises” and covers animals which have “been in contact with the case.”They said on social media: “Just to reassure everyone in light of the announcement today regarding the confirmed case of BSE in Ayrshire.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.

“It has been confirmed by the Scottish Government this poses zero risk to our show. We look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow to Ayr Racecourse…. Remember to bring your sun cream!”
