If you’re in Ipoh and are wondering what to have for lunch, there’s no shortage of options! In terms of hawker food,But the closest runner-up has more of a kick: Ipoh dry curry noodle, a dish you’d hardly find outside of the state. And one of the places where you can enjoy both these delights – plus a third, the classic Ipoh steamed chicken – is at an eatery called Fei Lou Wu.
This writer went on a Sunday afternoon when the kopitiam was packed. After a bit of jostling to get to a table, an order was made for two servings of Ipoh hor fun, two bowls of dry curry noodles, and half a Hainanese chicken with a portion of roast pork. This writer and his mother both approved of this, and so should you – it’s as delicious and authentic as any in this humble town.The dry curry noodles, on the other hand, comes with prawns, mint leaves, shredded chicken, and optional added roast pork.
