IPOH: The construction of the Bagan Datuk Bridge has been completed, says Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The Works Minister said the 1.5km-long bridge, which began construction in 2017, is expected to be opened in early June.
He said the bridge is expected to benefit more than 70,000 people from the Bagan Datuk and Pasir Salak parliamentary constituencies. "It can shorten the distance between small towns from Bagan Datuk like Selekoh, Sungai Sumun and other villages to areas like Kampung Kayan, Seri Iskandar, Bota, Parit, Changkat Lada in Perak Tengah and also to Sitiawan, Manjung and Lumut.
"Prior to this, motorists would take more than one hour via FT069 and FT005 for a 50km-long journey," he said on his Facebook page on Friday ."The bridge will have a spillover effect to boost the local economy with the new network, accessibility and mobility," he said.
