El Jamal pleaded guilty to charges including recklessly causing actual bodily harm and using a pistol without a license.

A man in Sydney, Australia, Kamal El Jamal, 35, pleaded guilty to charges including recklessly causing actual bodily harm in a court hearing on Wednesday, February 5th, 2023. The charges stem from an incident on January 12th, 2023, where his wife, Georgina Vlahos, was allegedly shot through the garage ceiling while lying in bed at their Condell Park home. Ms. Vlahos suffered multiple injuries, including severe damage to her liver, and told paramedics she couldn't remember anything after the shooting. Court documents revealed that Mr. El Jamal didn't call for help until approximately 30 minutes after the incident, and that he was reportedly heavily under the influence of drugs at the time. Mr. El Jamal's barrister, Ertunc Ozen, stated that his client had completed five months at the Mudgee Private Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and expressed a strong desire to address his drug problem. He requested that Mr. El Jamal be allowed to complete the remaining two months of his rehabilitation program.
