SYDNEY: Australia became the latest country in the Asia Pacific region to announce strict Covid-19 (coronavirus) measures on Sunday (March 15) , with new requirements that all arrivals from abroad must self-isolate for 14 days.

"To help stay ahead of this curve, we will impose a universal self-isolation requirement on all arrivals to Australia and it is effective from midnight tonight," Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a press conference in Sydney.

Australia will also ban all cruise ships from arriving at its ports for an initial 30 days. The government also introduced"social distancing measures," which advises people to maintain a 1.5m distance between them, but said it will not close schools. Police officers, soldiers and coast guard personnel were checking temperatures and identification cards of people passing through dozens of"control points" around metropolitan Manila, where most of the confirmed cases have so far been reported.

Cambodia's Health Ministry on Sunday said it will ban foreigners from Iran from entering Cambodia for 30 days, effective Wednesday, local news outlet VOD reported.
