The dogs were reported in a cage behind St. Peter Apostle Church, according to the Austin Police Department. Officers conducted an extended search in a nearby wooded area to locate the animals, which are now safe at a shelter."Huge thank you to our officers working today for keeping all Austin residents, including our four-legged friends, safe in the winter weather," the department said.The Police Department and Austin Police Association both praised officers for their persistence in locating the dogs during harsh weather conditions."Please remember to bring your pets inside and keep them secure.
