Officers responded at 7 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the Booker T Washington apartment complex located near the 2600 block of Rosewood Avenue.When officers arrived on scene, they located a young Black male in his teens with obvious trauma to his body inside an apartment. Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Fire arrived on scene and attempted life-saving measure, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. "Right now there's a family grieving because they're just receiving the worst news they could possibly receive and our hearts break for that family, our hearts go out to the victims family, friends, and those affected by this," said Officer Jose Mendez during a media briefing. APD Homicide Detectives are canvassing the area and talking to witnesses to find out what led up to the shooting and who is responsible. So far they've discovered the two individuals involved may have known each other.This is being investigated as Austin's 38th homicide of 2025.
