Auburn University 's Board of Trustees approved a $9 million renovation project for Neville Arena on Friday morning in Montgomery, Alabama. The renovations will focus on enhancing the existing practice gym by expanding team meeting and office spaces within the basketball program suites. Spanning 22,500 square feet, the project aims to create a more functional and comfortable environment for the university's basketball teams.
This decision marks a shift from the original plan approved in February 2022, which involved constructing an entirely new basketball practice gym. Auburn Vice President of Facilities Management, Jim Carroll, explained that the revised plan prioritizes enhancing existing team facilities and the scholarship lobby. He highlighted the collaborative effort between the athletics department, coaches, and his team, emphasizing the value of these improvements for all sports teams, including volleyball, women's, and men's basketball. Carroll stated that the change addresses the initial scope challenges while offering significant cost savings for the university. The Board of Trustees also approved an architect and construction manager for a new multi-use facility planned for the north end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium. HOK Architects, based in Kansas City, Missouri, was selected as the lead architect, with Robins & Morton from Birmingham serving as the construction manager. CDFL Architects + Engineers and Workshop Architects will join the project as associate architects. This $25.7 million facility is expected to further enhance the Jordan-Hare Stadium experience, solidifying Auburn's position as a top-tier college football program. Auburn athletics director John Cohen expressed gratitude for the Board's approval and emphasized the commitment to maintaining Jordan-Hare Stadium as a premier venue in collegiate sports
