Auburn University, the reigning unanimous AP No. 1 team, is joining the 2025 Players Era Men's Championship, solidifying the event as the premier non-NCAA men's college basketball tournament.
Players Era , a company under the EverWonder Studio umbrella, announced today that Auburn University , the reigning unanimous AP No. 1 team, will be participating in the 2025 Players Era Men's Championship held in Las Vegas . This marks Auburn as the 17th team to join the championship, which is poised to feature the most competitive field ever assembled for a men's in-season tournament.
The tournament will utilize a novel format, blending international style-group play with championship matchups, guaranteeing a captivating slate of games for spectators. \'Having Auburn in the field for the next three years solidifies the Players Era Men's Championship as the premier men's college basketball tournament outside of the NCAA tournament,' stated Seth Berger, CEO of Players ERA. Auburn joins the eight programs that participated in last month's inaugural tournament – Alabama, Creighton, Houston, Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers, San Diego State, and Texas A&M – alongside new participants Baylor, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, St. Joseph's, St. John's, and Syracuse. The impressive field boasts 12 teams currently ranked or receiving votes in the latest AP Top-25 rankings, including seven teams in the top-15: No. 1 Auburn, No. 3 Iowa State, No. 4 Alabama, No. 7 Houston, No. 12 Kansas, No. 13 Texas A&M, and No. 15 Oregon. The groundbreaking Players Era Festival debuted this past fall, with games played at MGM Grand Garden Arena and distributed on TNT Sports. Next year's men's championship will again coincide with the opportunity for athletes on each team to engage in at least $1 million of NIL activities for Players Era and its sponsors outside of competition.
