AUBURN, Ala. - It took 11 innings for either team to score, but Auburn softball fell short as No. 17 Alabama used a two-out single to drive in a pair and clinch a 2-0 win Friday at Jane B. Moore Field, evening the series.
“Alabama got the big hit with runners in scoring position,” said head coach Mickey Dean. “That was the difference in the ball game. Both clubs had so many opportunities throughout the game.” . Auburn closed the game with seven hits. Icess Tresvik turned in a 2-for-5 effort while Axe Milanowski turned in her first career multi-hit outing with a 2-for-4 outing.
Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision. Shelby Lowe turned in an absolute gem, allowing just three hits and a pair of walks in her six innings of work. She struck out two. Maddie Penta tossed 4.2 innings in relief and suffered the loss. The series is on the line Saturday. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m. CT on the SEC Network.
