UPDATED. A passenger train traveling from Athens to the northern city of Thessaloniki, and a cargo train from Thessaloniki to Larissa collide head on outside the city of Larissa in central Greece.
ATHENS, Greece – Sixteen people died and least 85 were injured after two trains collided in Greece late on Tuesday, the fire brigade said, while the circumstances of the crash remained unclear.
“The collision was very strong,” he said, adding that the first four carriages had derailed, while the first two were “almost completely destroyed.”
