The testimony contradicts statements from other eyewitnesses.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Accused of murder, 47-year-old Anthony Peterson told a Fairbanks jury Thursday he was not the first to pull a gun on 18-year-old Brett Allen in January 2021.

They said the two men then struggled over Allen’s gun, leading it to fire an accidental round into the air, before Peterson shot at Allen multiple times. He said he arrived on scene that night after a frantic phone call from his son, telling his father people were trying to kill him. He told the jury he repeatedly asked them to cut it out through a sprinkling of expletives, and his son eventually started to get into his car.“It was just a reaction. I seen the muzzle flash, and then his gun came down. As it was coming down, I drew mine,” Peterson testified, referring to Allen.
